Title

EXPRESSIVE: Speech Synthesis of Personalized News Reports

Abstract

According to recent studies, people tend to be interested in vocalized and personalized news reports such as local weather forecast, local sport event results, touristic and travelling informations and so on. These news are updated frequently and can typically vary slightly depending on each user profile and expectations. Thus, it's not practical to resort to human writers or speakers, neither is the use of pre-recorded messages. However, technologies in natural language generation and speech synthesis can suit these needs and allows to deliver high quality speech messages dedicated for each user.

Making use of recent advances in both fields, the Expressive project, made up of academics and industrials, aims at creating a whole automatic system that provides speech personalized news reports that can be broadcasted on new media.
